Dinacharya challenge

Dinacharya is a set of tools that allows you to keep your body and mind free of impurities.  Apart from cleansing your body and mind, it also nourishes the seven tissue systems (dhatus).   Dinacharya involves a set of self care and awareness tools which balance our energy, calm the mind, cleanse the sense organs (eyes, ears, nose, mouth, skin) and strengthens digestion.

By following Dinacharya, your immune system will soar and many of your ailments will slowly disappear.  It is the best preventative medicine known to man.

The Dinacharya Challenge is a life changing experience where you will directly notice the benefits from living an Ayurvedic lifestyle.  This challenge is not hard, but it will require a little discipline on your part.   The challenge will last 30 days, and after noticing the benefits, you will want to stay with the practice.  One month is a perfect time to get the habit ingrained into your system.  So take the challenge and start loving and nurturing yourself!

What you will need:
  • Oil pulling formula or sesame oil
  • Tongue scraper
  •  Abhyanga Oil 
  • Dry skin brush
  • Commitment

Dinacharya Routine

Oral Hygiene (removes toxins from mouth and prevents lymph system clogging)

  •  Start by scraping tongue with tongue scraper 3 to 5 scrapes from back to front.
  •  Brush teeth.
  •  Oil pulling.  Swish oil for 5 to 10 minutes and then spit out

Shower Routine (get day started by anointing yourself with oils)

  • With dry skin brush stimulate your lymphatic system by starting with your extremities.  For the legs use an upward motion with moderate pressure, three strokes.  For the arms, go upwards three times.  In a circular motion go from right to left on your belly.  
  • After brushing take a luke warm shower
  • Perform a self massage using an appropriate oil for your dosha type.  Make sure to cover all of your body. If you are not sure what your dosha type is, take an online dosha quiz.


Meditation (focus, clarity, and purpose)

  • After anointing yourself with the oils, you are in the perfect mood to meditate
  • Easy 5 to 10 minute meditation before you go out.  (simple meditation involves just paying attention to your breath.  When you breathe in, mentally say "in", When you breathe out, mentally say "out".  As you do this your mind will begin to calm and you will experience a peaceful beginning to your day.  You will be more focused and productive. Your day will commence without chaos.  A five minute meditation goes a long way!

This is the challenge.  Not so bad, huh?  These little changes in your daily life will make a big difference.  Try it for 30 days and see how your life changes for the better.  One last thing, remember to wake early and retire early so you can flow with nature's forces.
